The Elmbrook Education Foundation (EEF) is committed to its mission of Strong Communities. Strong Schools. One of the best examples of that mission in action is the Intergenerational Program, which connects community volunteers with young readers across the district.

What began as a pilot program at Swanson Elementary in 2023 has quickly grown into a districtwide success. Last school year, the program expanded to all five Elmbrook elementary schools, where 76 volunteers worked one-on-one or in small groups with 191 students to build oral reading fluency, confidence, and a love of reading.

The Intergenerational Volunteer Program will return to all five Elmbrook elementary schools for the 2026-2027 school year, and the EEF is currently seeking new volunteers.

No teaching experience is required. Volunteers simply need patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to help young readers grow in their skills and confidence. Reading sessions take place weekly during the school day, and interviews for new volunteers will be held virtually or by phone throughout July and August.

The Elmbrook Education Foundation sponsored the 15th annual Most Influential Educator banquets on May 11 for Brookfield Central High School and May 26 for Brookfield East High School. The inspiration for this program originated with Elmbrook parent, Jane Peavler.
“I am grateful to the Elmbrook Education Foundation and its continued support of the Most Influential Educator program. This program offers students the opportunity to honor the teachers who have inspired them on their educational journey. Every year, students express their gratitude in heartfelt, creative, and emotional ways. It is a privilege to see firsthand how educators change lives every day,” said Jane Peavler, MIE Chair.

Honorees are nominated by fifteen graduating seniors from Brookfield Central and seventeen from Brookfield East High Schools. Students are asked to nominate a teacher who had a significant positive effect on their K-12 education. A banquet is held in their honor where nominators prepare a speech about their most influential educator and create a homemade gift in their honor.

The Elmbrook Education Foundation is proud to announce the donation of $77,577 to the Unified Sports program in our Elmbrook Schools ensuring this tradition lives on for many years to come. Unified Sports creates opportunities for students of all abilities to connect through inclusive athletics. Through teamwork, friendship, school spirit, and shared experiences, these programs help students grow both on and off the field.
